Dr. Karen Miller/Owner

My name is Karen Miller and I am a veterinarian in the small town of Lincolnton, NC about 25 miles west of Charlotte. I was born and raised in Charlotte. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 1983 with a B.S. in Zoology and in 1987 from the College of Veterinary Medicine with a DVM. I have practiced at Lincolnton Animal Hospital since then.

I have special interests in dentistry and endocrine diseases. One of the most fulfilling parts of my job is the long standing relationships with many of our clients and patients. A significant number of our clients have been with us since and even before I started here in 1987.

Education of our clients and our staff is of the highest priority for me. I believe in giving in abundance.

I lost my first husband to a long, courageous battle with cancer. I have a wonderful daughter, Caitlin, who is a graduate from NCSU and is a landscape architect living in Raleigh with her husband. My stepdaughter and stepson live in Texas with their spouses and my husband, Ron Tapley, and I have 3 grandkids there and one on the way. Ron and I have 2 dogs, Socks and Smiley and our cat, named Baxter. I enjoy singing in our church choir, reading, yardwork, and trying new recipes. Ron and I like to ride our Harley, play corn hole and pickle ball, and love to try out new restaurants.

Dr. Amy Jones

Dr. Jones grew up in Lincoln County and attended East Lincoln High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from UNC-Charlotte in 1991. She graduated from NC State University and received her DVM in 1995. She is married to Dr. Kevin Jones and they have two children, a son and a daughter. Her family also includes 4 dogs, Radar, Trip, Fifi, and Nismo and 2 cats, Shadow and Oswin. She enjoys photography, scrapbooking, reading, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Robyn McFerren

While growing up, “Dr. Mac” lived all over the east coast and has moved more than 20 times. NC has been home longer than anywhere else -15 years. She obtained her undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and her DVM from the University of Georgia. While raising her two sons, Ian (13) and Carson (17), Dr. McFerren worked relief and part-time for the past 12 years. Besides the boys, she and her husband, Tim, are the “pet parents” to cats Maow and Trouble, as well as dogs Poppy and Rye. Dr. Mac’s interests include internal medicine, behavior, and alternative medicine. In addition to her required medical licensing, she is also certified in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine and Acupuncture for small animals.

Dr. Alex Schaeffer

Dr. Schaeffer grew up in Greenville, SC and attended undergraduate school at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since was 5 years old (and even has the drawings of her as a vet to prove it!) and pursued her dream at University of Georgia where she earned her DVM. She currently resides in Shelby, NC with her husband, and one dog, Zucker. Dr. Schaeffer enjoys reading, hiking, creative writing. Dr. Schaeffer has a strong interest in dermatology, dentistry, and veterinary business management. She looks forward to fostering the bond between humans and animals, and helping pets live healthier, happier lives.

Dr. Shelby Rogers

Dr. Rogers grew up in Charleston, SC, where her passion for veterinary medicine was sparked while working as a kennel technician at a local veterinary office throughout high school. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences from Clemson University and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mississippi State. She moved to the Charlotte area right after graduation with her fiancé, Hunter, and their black lab, Captain. Dr. Rogers loves spending time with family and friends, spending time outdoors, and spending Saturdays cheering on Clemson football (go Tigers!).
